World Ski Orienteering Championships: “Yes, I am a little nervous”, says Eduard Khrennikov

Posted on | February 26, 2007 | Category: News

Eduard Khrennikov has won nine gold in World Championships in Ski Orienteering. Now he is ready for another competition and the body is ready for action.

– I feel a little nervous, he smiles.

It’s the really important thing that’s at stake now.

– Russian Championships and other competitions are training for me. This is the big one, he says.

– What’s your goal?

– I want to get a medal, says the Russian.

It’s just like he said before the European Championship in Ivanovo last year. He ended up with “only” medals. The Swede Tomas Löfgren won all the individual gold and was also the first to finish the relay on the last leg. This year the Swede has had some trouble during the winter. Khrennikov has also had some problems.

– I have been a bit sick, he says.

But on home ground again it will it be rather surprising if he isn’t in the contest for the best medal.

The first chance is today with the sprint distance.

All the competitions finish at the same stadium. Everything is just six kilometres north west of Moscow in the Khimki district.
