Alongside JWOC, the World Masters Championships for athletes aged 35 and over have also been staged at S-chanf, Switzerland this week. The champions are the winners of the combined results of two individual days of racing.

Oldest competitor was 82-year-old Osmo Ingerö from Finland, who successfully completed his two courses and becomes M80 champion. The oldest woman competitor, 76-year-old Saara Koivunen also from Finland, is the new W75 champion.

Victoria Fershalova, Russia, won W40 by the huge margin of 24 minutes and 15 seconds over the two days. In M70, Paavo Pystinen, Finland won by the even bigger margin of 40 minutes 46 seconds! There were also some close finishes, with M60 being decided by just 16 seconds. Almost all competitors were from Europe and Scandinavia, but Sharon Crawford made the long journey from USA worthwhile by winning W60.
