World Cup, Norway: Alexandersson and Kratov win Long distance

Tove Alexandersson made it two big wins in two days; today in the Long distance race she had a lead at the finish of more than two minutes. Oleksandr Kratov, Ukraine continued his good form this season, taking the men’s race by 21 seconds.

Second place in the women’s race today went to Ida Bobach, Denmark who is steadily getting towards her best form after a period with injury. She finished 2.10 down on Tove Alexandersson, and third was home runner Mari Fasting who was 48 seconds slower than Ida Bobach.

Kratov’s win was by 21 seconds, with Norwegians Hans Gunnar Omdal second and Magne Dæhli third, 10 seconds slower than Omdal. Norway also had 6th place with Torgeir Norbech, so three home runners on the podium – all faster than yesterday’s winner Olav Lundanes on the day; he finished in 9th place today and World Cup leader Daniel Hubmann was 8th.

The next World Cup race is in Finland on Wednesday, a Sprint with single-heat qualification and a final.
