Polina Malchikova has quickly become a familiar name in ski orienteering circles. Polina won her first World Championships medals last year in Tänndalen, Sweden, where she was part of the winning relay teams and added an unexpected Middle distance championship title on top. This year she did the same trick in the European Championships in Sumy, Ukraine, taking two relay victories and one individual gold medal, this time on the Long distance. The promising Russian is now on second place in the World Cup standings and fighting for top spots on Round 3 of World Cup in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan.
