The Queen of Denmark, Maja Alm, has more to achieve

Maja Alm fulfilled the main purpose for the visit to Switzerland the last day of WC in Arosa and The Dane is now changing her training. There’s more to go for.

The winner of three golds in Scotland has had some sickness after the great week and isn’t in WOC shape, but she and her team mates got what they wanted most of all in Arosa.

– We wanted to win the sprint relay over all and that was the main goal of the trip, Maya says.

The Dane has featured a lot in Danish media since the success in Great Britain and is recognised in the streets of Aarhus, where she lives. She doesn’t think there’s a change in her as a person, but something will change. For a couple of years she has mainly been focusing on sprint. Now she is looking to reach new levels in forest orienteering.

– I will focus on training relevant for forest orienteering, but for the coming year the main purpose of my training is to be well prepared for the forest relay, since it’s more unlike the Danish forest terrain than it was this year.

– But you also want to become incredibly good in the forest disciplines?

– Yes, I aim to progress, but I think I need to look further ahead than just next year. The championships after Sweden also has forest terrain that’s a bit more similar to what it is in Denmark than it’s next year, Maya says.

In two weeks time she is thinking about participating in Blodslitet, the big Norwegian long distance race. That’s in Fredrikstad, quite close to Strömstad, over the border in Sweden.
