SkiO World Cup 2017-2018: Russians strongest in first round

Posted on | December 2, 2017 | Category: Arena, News, SkiO

Russia was the most dominant nation in Round 1 of the SkiO World Cup, their best athlete being Andrey Lamov who won all three races.

Three men and four women in the top six – that is how the World Cup standings look after 3 of the 9 individual races in the 2017-2018 season. In the women’s list, however, it is Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson who is leading after two victories and a third place. She has a 15-point advantage over the Russian Mariya Kechkina. At the end of the season it will be an athlete’s seven best results that will count in the overall standings.

Andrey Lamov’s maximum 180 points gives him a lead of 61 points over Lars Moholdt, Norway in second place. The consistent young Russian skier Vladislav Kiselev is third, with 3 points fewer than Moholdt.

The next round in Bulgaria in early February, the European Ski Orienteering Championships, has two races that count for the Team World Cup as well as three for the Individual World Cup.
