Lars Lindstrøm: “Kiitos to Finland”

Posted on | October 4, 2015 | Category: Arena

Lars Lindstrøm smiles broadly and uses a word that isn’t in the Danish language at all.

A really big goal for the last races in World Cup was to win the overall victory in the sprint relay and, just like last year, Denmark became the best nation. However, it wasn’t only due to Denmark’s own achievements, for Denmark came fifth in the relay, even though it ended with a victory over all.

– Kiitos to Finland, Lindstrøm smiles.

Kiitos is Finnish for thank you.

The reason for saying kiitos is that Finland held Sweden behind in the battle for second place after Switzerland. Had Sweden got the second place they would have won overall. Now the Swedes came third both in the last race and in total.

For Denmark it has been a struggle after they became the best nation at WOC. They have been troubled by illness and injuries. All the stars have had problems in some kind. Perhaps the worst was when Emma Klingeberg was involved in a collision on her bicycle and suffered an injury in the neck, which means she can’t run for a while.

– It’s great that we made it. This means so much for the team, Lindstøm says.’
