Matthias Kyburz took another convincing victory at The World Games in Cali, Colombia, today. An amazing 1:37 min gap on the middle distance to the silver medallist Daniel Hubmann was a surprise event to the winner himself. Third in the men’s race was Vilius Aleliunas from Lithuania. You can read more about Vilius and Matthias in a separate article in Around the Arena on the IOF frontpage.

Minna Kauppi, Finland, had a good race today, and it resulted in a victory of over 44 seconds before Tove Alexandersson, Sweden. After yesterday’s sprint Kauppi said she would rather not compete in the middle; she felt so exhausted and disappointed. But today her mood had turned. She was basically fastest from the start to the finish, and made very few mistakes. “I have not trained much since the World Championships, so yesterday’s sprint was probably a good preparation for today’s race”; Kauppi said, and thanked her coach, Maria Rantala, for knowing how to motivate her for today’s race when she wasn’t feeling that good.

Nadiya Volynska, Ukraine, continued her great races at The World Games and took bronze before yesterday’s silver medallist Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg, Norway.
