Ida Bobach had to have a break from running

Verdenscup langdistanse Kongsberg 8. juni 2014

Last autumn Ida Bobach didn’t run at all for some time, and she still isn’t running how she would like to, but she’s still among the very best in the world.

As a junior she won seven gold medals in Junior World Championships, and as a last-year junior she won a medal on the very tricky Middle distance at the World Championships in France.

Last year she struggled a lot with her Achilles, and at the end of the orienteering season she just stopped running altogether.

“After a while I started to run again. Since February I have been running six–seven hours a week”, she says.

On the Long distance just outside Kongsberg she showed good strength. Only Tove Alexanersson beat the Dane, who ran a very good race but also had some small mistakes, but for sure she’s back. Even though she is not running that much in training, she is of course training in a lot of other ways like swimming.

The women’s Long distance course had a length of 8,9 kilometres with 350 metres of climbing and 16 controls.
