“I just followed my plan”

At the prize-giving Helena Jansson had tears in her eyes. The Swede showed what she had written on her right hand.

“Every leg shall have a plan, simplify and attack” was written with a blue pen. The Swede knew what to do, and won her second World Championship individual gold medal. Her first gold was in the sprint two years ago. At this year’s World Championships she has won a medal at every distance.

In the middle distance final her plan was to have a point before the control where she would really know where she was, and then find the control. The race ended for her in the best possible way: the gold medal was secured by more than one minute ahead of Ida Bobach.

“It’s terrific and amazing”, she says in her always enthusiastic way.

In the relay she will run together with Annika Billstam, winner at long distance, and Tove Alexandersson. Tove hasn’t take part in any race so far in these Championships. She will still be a junior next season, but is a very promising talent. The sprint winner Linnea Gustafsson isn’t in the team: there’s really tough competition in the Swedish team.
