An Event Adviser and Mapping Clinic was held 21–23 September 2016 in Brasília, Brazil. Clinic leaders were Øivind Holt, Event Advising, and Morten Dalby, mapping.

The EA clinic was open both to experienced organisers hoping to play a role in organising future IOF events, as well as participants wanting to seek accreditation as an IOF Event Adviser. Twenty participants from Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Brazil participated in the Event Advising Clinic, whilst the nine participants in the Mapping Clinic represented Chile, Colombia and Brazil.

Since few had a command of English, a lot of the time was spent on case studies with participants divided into groups of 3.  There were also common sessions for mappers and Event Advisers in order to get a common understanding of the required cooperation between mappers, course planners, event management and Event Advisers. This way, the need for translation was significantly reduced.

Copies of the presentations in the Event Advising clinic were given to participants for self-study afterwards. The clinic also included a presentation concerning Risk management and the paper regarding cancelation of events (§26.12 and 13) was used as basis for discussion rather than the jury cases.  Clinic leader Øivind Holt also used some of his own controlling reports and Event plans to show the importance of communication between an SEA and IOF bodies. The case studies for the Mapping clinic included both surveying and drawing.

Translators during the clinic were Luiz Sergio Mendes, Arceli Oliveira and Egon Erlei Zorzo.
