The application deadline has expired for several major events, resulting in many interesting bids. Two have applied for WOC 2021, while EYOC 2019 was the most popular event with six federations applying. Full list at the bottom.

It will be either Brazil or the Czech Republic who will organize WOC 2021 and will follow Estonia, Latvia, Norway and Denmark as future organisers of the World Orienteering Championships. Brazil and the Czech Republic have both applied for the forest WOC 2021, it has become clear after the deadline for application for a series of major FootO events expired at the turn of the year.

The event with the most applications is the European Youth Orienteering Championships in 2019, with applications from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Serbia and Turkey. Turkey has also applied for JWOC 2020 as the only applicant. The Oceanian Orienteering Championships 2019 also received a single applicant in the form of Australia.

The host of the World Masters Orienteering Championships in 2020 will be one of three applicants, Great Britain, Italy and Slovakia.
