The Norwegian Orienteering Federation, in cooperation with the IOF, organises the first IOF High Level Event Seminar in Oslo the upcoming weekend. The seminar is meant for organisers and potential organisers of future events, key persons of IOF High Level Events, and for already licensed Event Advisers. Altogether 36 participants from 13 countries have registered to the seminar. Amongst them, there are representatives of all future World Orienteering Championships until 2012, and all the IOF Senior Event Advisers of those events.
The seminar focuses on the organisation of high-level events, such as the World Championships and the World Cup. Topics will include arena production and planning, IT infrastructure, event organisation model, demands for different distances and types of event, and accommodation and transport matters.
“I am really satisfied with the attendance and with the interest shown in the seminar”, says IOF Sports Director Björn Persson, who will act as seminar leader. “It is most certainly the biggest event ever of its kind and the great interest shows that we must consider making it regular. I look forward to a weekend of experience sharing with organisers and orienteering expertise from all around the world”, he concludes.
