5th Military World Games in Brazil

5th edition of the CISM Military World Games takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The orienteers began their Games with middle distance on Tuesday. In the men’s class Simonas Krepsta, Lithuania, was the clear winner before Gernot Kerschbaumer, Austria, and Andreas Kyburz, Switzerland. Home country Brazil’s Sidnaldo Sousa made a fine race and finished 20th – before for example Tero Föhr, Finland (22nd), and Frederich Tranchand, France (26th).

In the women’s class Aija Skrastina, Latvia, was one second faster than Daria Lajn from Poland. Annika Rihma, Estonia, got the bronze medal.

The orienteering events at the CISM Military World Games continue with long distance on Wednesday.
