04/07/2011 || Junior World Orienteering Championships – Ida Bobach breaks medals record ||News||

A new record has been set for the number of medals won by a single person at the Junior World Championships. Ida Bobach won gold for the second day in succession in today’s long distance race, and now has ten medals in all, six of them gold, overtaking the record previously held by Olav Lundanes, Norway and Minna Kauppi, Finland. Ida’s compatriot Emma Klingenberg won her second silver medal of these Championships.

03/07/2011 || World Masters Orienteering Championships – Sprint finals: 10 nations have gold medallists ||News||

The gold medals in the 25 age classes were spread amongst 10 nations after today’s sprint finals in Komló, Hungary. 26 gold medals were in fact needed, the result of a tie for first place in W60 between Val Challacombe, Great Britain and Yvette Zaugg, Switzerland.


03/07/2011 || Junior World Orienteering Championships – Ida Bobach’s fifth gold medal ||News||

Ida Bobach, Denmark won her fifth Junior World Orienteering Championships gold medal today, retaining her Sprint crown from last year. The men’s gold went to the Frenchman Lucas Basset, who was 13th in the same race last year.


02/07/2011 || Big entry for World Masters Championships ||News||

Very large numbers of more senior orienteers (35 years old and upwards) from all over the world have found their way to Pecs, Hungary for the 2011 World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC). Almost 400 athletes have entered the M60 class, and many classes have more than 200 entrants. At the upper end of the range, there is 1 entry in each of M95 and W90.


01/07/2011 || 36 nations in Junior World Championships ||News||

Many young hopefuls are right now gathering in Rumia and Wejherowo in the Pomeranian region of Poland, where the Junior World Championships (JWOC) starts with the Opening Ceremony on Saturday and the first race on Sunday. 36 nations will be represented, 12 of them with a full complement of 6 men and 6 women athletes.
