2009 World Ski Orienteering Championships: Red group allocation method

Posted on | August 19, 2008 | Category: News

Red group places are individual and allocated for each WOC competition by the following criteria:

1. For each competition, 20 best from those entered for the competition based on the standing of the IOF World Ranking List are allocated to red group.

a) Within the red group, 10 best based on the standing of the IOF World Ranking List are drawn as a later starting group, and places 11-20 are drawn as an earlier starting group.

2. If 2007 World Champion of the distance in question is entered to competition, but is not among the 20 best in World Ranking list (among those entered for the competition), he/she is drawn within the earlier starting group in red group.

3. If no competitors from the organising federation are qualified by criteria 1-2, the highest ranked competitor among those entered from the organising federation is qualified, and is drawn within an earlier starting group in red group.

4. In case of ties in the last placing when applying criteria 1, all competitors sharing the placing are qualified.

5. World Ranking list is updated after each competition.

Competitors allocated to the red group cannot change to another starting group.
