Posted on | May 30, 2016 | Category: News

Tove Alexandersson, Sweden and Matthias Kyburz, Switzerland are the clear leaders in this year’s World Cup standings after the three counting races in the European Championships. They lead by 43 and 117 points respectively.

Nearest challenger to Alexandersson, who was World Cup winner overall last year, is Judith Wyder SUI. She has recovered from the back injury problems that plagued her last season and has won one of this year’s races compared to Alexandersson’s two. Maja Alm DEN is in third place with four top-six results.

Matthias Kyburz has enjoyed a flying start to this season’s races with three wins from the five competitions held so far. His compatriot Daniel Hubmann, last year’s winner overall, has had fluctuating success so far and lies second in the standings. Next behind him is Gustav Bergman SWE, and then two fast-rising athletes having their most successful season so far, Florian Howald SUI and Martin Regborn SWE.

The three individual finals at the World Championships in Sweden in late August comprise the next World Cup round.
