Three reigning World Champions prepare for The World Games

“I want to be on the podium at The World Games in Colombia”, says reigning Sprint World Champion Matthias Kyburz, Switzerland in an interview for Inside Orienteering made by Joaquim Margarido. And Kyburz is not the only one. Also the sprint specialist Oystein Kvaal Osterbo, Norway has told that The World Games will be the highlight of his 2013, and World Champions Edgars Bertuks, Latvia, and Olav Lundanes, Norway, are going to fight for the medals there too. Altogether 40 men and 40 women compete in The World Games orienteering events.
The World Games takes place in Cali, Colombia, 25 July – 4 August 2013, and the orienteering events will be held on 1-4 August. The World Games is organised every fourth year by the International World Games Association (IWGA) under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Orienteering has been part of The World Games since 2001. The orienteering formats include sprint, middle and mixed relay.
