Minna Kauppi stepped up to third position in the Nordic Tour and second place overall in the World Cup and could smile – just as she usually does. The Finn is good at that.
“I try to look for the positive things”, she says, “and not get depressed on the grey days”.
In fact the smiling Finn’s outlook has become so noticeable, not only in orienteering but overall in Finnish society, that she has been named as ‘the most positive Finnish person’ this year.
“Well at the Nordic Tour I haven’t been so positive. I have felt very tired”, she says.
Tired or not, she has done very well today, moving up to third place in the Nordic Tour and second in the World Cup.
This prize for the ‘most positive person’ has been given out in Finland for about twenty years, and a lot of different people such as artists and business people and also sports people have been named. This year it was an orienteer for the first time.
