This weekend marks a historical event in Egypt. The first ever Egyptian International Orienteering Championships will take place in the Ancient Egyptian capital Luxor.
Egypt is a country where Orienteering is growing rapidly. In November, they held the first ever Sprint Orienteering Championships of Egypt in Cairo. One of the most exciting things about orienteering in Egypt is the many youngsters that take part. Remarkably, at this weekend’s event 113 out of 168 participants are 18 years old or younger!
Competitors can look forward to an awe-inspiring orienteering event, set against the backdrop of the historical Valley of the Kings, where rests the tomb of Tutankhamen, and the majestic temple complexes of Karnak and Luxor.
