Winner Matthias Kyburz celebrated by the Swiss team.
William Lind was 20.6 seconds slower than the winner in the first final of the Nordic Orienteering Tour. He finished sixth – and was the best non-Swiss runner in the men’s class!
The Swiss team showed its incredible strength when the reigning Sprint World Champion, Matthias Müller, was beaten by his team mates Matthias Kyburz, Matthias Merz and Fabian Hertner. Daniel Hubmann finished fifth.
21-year-old Matthias Kyburz surprised many by winning with nine seconds before Matthias Merz. Qualification winner Olav Lundanes, Norway, finished 20th in the city sprint that was held in the second oldest town in Finland, Porvoo, 50 km East of Helsinki.
