Preparations gave pay-back

WC sprint finale Liestal Søndag 5. oktober 2014

Tove Alexandersson likes the unexpected best, but the Swede also likes to make the most of upcoming challenges.

Before the last World Cup race, Tove was very eager to have the best possible end to the season. She has been looking forward a lot to being in Liestal city, the place for the last race. “I have made up courses and looked at what could be different legs,” she says.

It must have been smart work, for Tove won again. “When I was prepared, I could more quickly make route choices. It looks like it’s good to prepare,” she smiles. “But I like it best when it’s like it has been in Finland, with a lot of new fences at the race so you don’t know how it will be.”

The second-year senior has had a great year, even if not everything has ended perfectly.

“WOC not all it could have been,” Håkon Carlsson, the national coach, says. She only got four medals in Italy. “The Sprint was OK, but I made some mistakes,” she says. After that the Swede got some challenges with her stomach, but there was a medal in Middle, Long and Relay after the first Sprint medal, but none of them was gold.

She orienteers at a very high standard, but not always at her best. “She can be better both physically and o-technically,” Carlsson says.

Just after the big relay 25-manna in Stockholm this coming weekend, she will go to Scotland for her third trip this year. She was also there in August and September. Alexandersson is for sure going to fight for gold in the northern part of Great Britain.
