After some troubles with the snow conditions in Austrian Obertilliach, today the competitors finally saw some good weather. A sunny day with clear blue skies, and with plenty of snow on the ground, set the stage for an exciting day of Ski Orienteering. Today was the third day of races and it was time for the middle distance mass start races.
Norway’s Lars Moholdt won the men’s class. His finish was followed by an intense battle for second place where Andrey Lamov (RUS) just managed to beat World Cup Leader Erik Rost by one second. In the photo above you can see Lars Moholdt furthest to the right of the start line, and Erik Rost on the far left.
It was another good day for the Russian athletes. Mariya Kechkina (RUS) (pictured) won the women’s class with her fellow countrywoman Tatyana Oborina claiming the bronze. The silver medal was won by Tove Alexandersson (SWE).
The winners of the EYSOC were Nicola Mueller (SUI) and Aleksandra Rusakova (RUS). JWSOC winners were Sergey Gorlanov (RUS) and Tuuli Suutari (FIN).
