03/02/2012 || Ski Orienteering World Cup: technically demanding middle distance
On the Ski Orienteering 2012 World Cup the Swedish success continued when the middle distance races were run at the Tahoe City Cross Country Center in California, USA. Erik Rost got his form to match his orienteering skills and took a neat victory in the men’s competition. Tove Alexandersson continued to impress and took her third straight victory, in spite of small difficulties in the first part of the race. The courses were difficult and demanding and many of the top competitors lost their chances in big mistakes.

Our Athlete of the Month has recently moved to a new city and new work place, with no snow in the neighbourhood. Still he is aiming to improve his ski orienteering results from previous years – as well as win the Japanese Championships for the tenth consecutive year.

Tove Alexandersson took her second Ski Orienteering World Cup victory yesterday, when the sprint race was held at the Auburn Ski Club in Truckee, California. She was accompanied by her team mate, Peter Arnesson, who grabbed the first place in the men’s sprint race by keeping two Norwegians, Lars Hol Moholdt and Hans Jörgen Kvåle, behind him.

Men’s long distance mass start race at Lake Tahoe was tight from the start to the very end. The top 10-15 competitors were close to each other during the entire race.

The Ski Orienteering 2012 World Cup started with long distance mass start race, and the reigning champions were still the best in Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Centre in Truckee, California. In the women’ts class, Sweden’s young Tove Alexandersson took her first World Cup victory with an undisputed superiority, where as Russia’s Andrey Grigoriev got the victory with a smart route choice to second last control.

World Cup in Ski Orienteering kicks off on Monday 30 January with a long distance mass start race at Tahoe Donner Cross Country in California, USA. The event begins at 8 AM local time. 27/01/2012 || Ski Orienteering World Cup 2012 ready to start
Ski orienteers from 16 nations have gathered to Lake Tahoe region in California, United States, to start the 2012 World Cup. The small city of Truckee in Sierra Nevada mountains hosts the first ever Ski Orienteering World Cup Round that takes place in North America. Exceptionally late winter in Sierra Nevada kept the organisers wary, but a snow storm a week ago secured enough snow and excellent conditions for the event.

At its recent meeting in Vantaa, Finland, the IOF Council appointed Poland organiser of the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships and Junior World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships 2014.
