Switzerland’s Christine Schaffner, four times a MTBO World Champion, won today’s Middle Distance race in the World Cup by 25 seconds over yesterday’s winner Marika Hara, Finland. It was quite a day for the Schaffner family: husband Beat also took victory in the men’s race, winning by 19 seconds.
Christine completed the 11.2 km course with 365 m climb in the Prague region of the Czech Republic in 46.27. A good day for Switzerland was completed by a third-place ride from Maja Rothweiler, moving up one place from yesterday.
Luca Dallaville, Italy, took second place in the men’s race over 16.6. km with 460 m climb. The winning time was 52.35. Yesterday’s winner Samuel Pökälä had to be content with 8th place today, and World Rankings leader Samuli Saarela was 12th.
