Mountain Bike Orienteering World Cup: Strong orienteering skills key to success

Posted on | June 6, 2010 | Category: News

Michaela Gigon, Austria, was again strongest in the women’s class when the Mountain Bike Orienteering World Cup Round 2 continued on a techically very challenging middle distance in Gdansk, Poland. In the men’s class, Anton Foliforov, Russia, rose from a second place on the long distance to a victory on the middle distance, just before Erik Skovgaard Knudsen, Denmark, who now leads the World Cup standings. The competition was held on an area with a dense path network, which required careful map reading at high speed.

The World Cup continues on Sunday with a mixed relay, where each three-rider team must include at least one woman. This is the first time women and men compete in the same team in the Mountain Bike Orienteering World Cup.
