Khrennikov dominates World Cup standings

The Russian Eduard Khrennikov, three times previous winner of the ski orienteering World Cup and with thirteen World Championship gold medals to his name, has a dominating lead in this year’s standings ahead of the final round to be held in Sweden in mid-March. Natalya Tomilova has a narrower lead in the women’s standings. Eduard Khrennikov and Josefine Engström lead the Sprint standings.

Three Russians head the men’s World Cup standings, with Khrennikov leading by 64 points from Andrey Grigoriev. Third, a further 38 points down, is Andrei Lamov. Tomilova has a lead of 11 points over Olga Novikova, second, and 34 over Marte Reenaas in third place.

Sweden’s Josefine Engström has had a consistent season so far in the Sprint races and leads by 23 ahead of the final Sprint race on home terrain on 13th March. Eduard Khrennikov’s lead in the Sprint standings is 45 points.
