IOF World Ranking: Old and new leaders after the World Championships

Posted on | September 4, 2009 | Category: News

Last year, Simone Niggli had been leading the World Ranking List for a record of 323 consecutive weeks, before her break in competing forced her to give up the first place to Minna Kauppi. Now she is back. After two bronze medals and one world champion title in Hungary, Simone is leading the world rankings again. World Cup leader Minna Kauppi is second on the ranking list and Marianne Andersen holds the third place.

Daniel Hubmann has been leading the men’s World Ranking List for a year now, and secured his position with good performances at The World Games in July and the World Championships in August. No one came even close to his results: five medals from five individual competitions – most important of which The World Games middle distance victory and the World Championships long distance gold. Thierry Gueorgiou was able to defend his middle distance gold in Hungary, and still holds the second place in the rankings. The sprint distance World Games winner and world champion Andrey Khramov has moved up to a third place after the good summer.

The world rankings lists are updated weekly.
