Invitation to the IOF Event Adviser Clinic in Zhongshan, China, 1-3 May 2009

The Orienteering Association of China and Orienteering Association of Hong Kong are pleased to invite you to the IOF Event Adviser Clinic to be held 1–3 May 2009 in China.

The main objective of thi IOF Event Adviser Clinic is to prepare participants to be licensed IOF Foot-O Event Advisers.

The requirements for licensing are:

1. Be an active foot orienteer.
2. Have competed in countries other than your own.
3. Have successfully controlled major national events in the last 3 years.
4. Be competent in communicate with IOF and the organizing Federation (mainly in English).
5. Have attended, and have been an active participant in, an IOF Event Advisers Clinic
6. Be familiar with the following IOF Rules and other relevant publications
7. Be recognised as a top standard controller/event adviser and endorsed as suitable by your Federation.

Venue: Kun Lun Hotel – NanLangTown, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, China

Course Contents:
• Deeper understanding of the nature of orienteering and each format of foot-O (long, middle, sprint, relay)
• Understanding of IOF rules and requirements for international competition (competition rules, map specifications, etc)
• Understanding of the task of an IOF Event Adviser

Travel: The venue is located at 80 km from Hong Kong, 62 km from Macau and 110 km from Guangzhou City or Airport.
By Air
From Guangzhou Baiyun Airport – take bus to China Resources Vanguard Department of Zhongshan City (100 min), then take bus route 12 to Kun Lun Hotel (20 min)
From Hong Kong International Airport – Take airport bus to China Hong Kong Ferry Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui of Kowloon, then take ferry to Zhongshan City or Take train to Luowu Station at boarder. Cross the boarder to Shenzhen of China and take bus to Zhongshan City.
By Train
From Guangzhou Railway Station – Take bus at Tianhe Bus Station and get off at China Resources Vanguard Department of Zhongshan City (100 min), then take bus route 12 to Kun Lun Hotel (20 min).

Programme: This Clinic consists of lectures, discussions and group work. The detailed programme will be sent to all participants and will be also available on www.orienteering.org.

• 2007 Foot-O Competition Rules
• International Specification for Orienteering Maps, ISOM
• International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps, ISSOM
• IOF Control descriptions
• The Leibnitz Convention
• IOF guidelines for WRE, WMOC and JWOC

The participants are asked to roughly study the material beforehand.

How to enter and entry fee: Please send your details (use the form below) by e-mail or post to the Orienteering Association of China and pay the entry fee 500 RMB ( approx. 60 €)
Entry fee to be paid to Orienteering Association of China with the entry form (covering entry fee, lecturing materials, local transportation to practice area, hire of lecture room and souvenir T-shirt)

Insurance: All participants are advised to prepare their own insurance for taking part in this Clinic.
