Hausken Nordberg: “I wanted to show that I can be good individually”

Posted on | October 2, 2015 | Category: Arena

For Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg the long distance in Arosa showed something she has wanted to show for a long time.

At WOC in Scotland she had incredible last legs and fixed two silvers to Norway, but individually she wasn’t satisfied. No medal at all.

– It has been a goal for the end of World Cup to show that I can also do well individually. I wanted to show that I can manage more than relays, she smiles.

Individually the Norwegian has gold on the sprint in WOC in 2008. That was the year for her previous triumph individually.

– I won the last sprint race in Switzerland seven years ago, she says.

In Arosa she took her first World Cup triumph since the golden year 2008. It was also her tenth triumph in World Cup individually.

– I only made a mistake of 30 seconds, she says.

The 39 year old athlete really showed what she has wanted. She can still do incredible well individually. The winning margin was more than three minutes.

The mother of two small children also got a very good sign on the way to the coming WOC. She is going for Strömstad, but isn’t looking any further into the future. In Strömstad the goal is of course to get at medal on the forest disciplines. She is missing that, but she has won the long distance at the European Championship.
