Good World Cup leads for Alexandersson and Hubmann

Posted on | July 6, 2017 | Category: Arena, News

With 6 of the 10 World Cup races over, Tove Alexandersson and Daniel Hubmann have healthy leads in the World Cup standings.

Courtesy especially of her Long and Middle wins this week, Tove Alexandersson, Sweden leads the women’s standings by 27 points from Maja Alm, Denmark, who has one gold and one silver medal to her credit at WOC. Third-placed is Natalia Gemperle, Russia, 33 points down on Alm. Seven athletes have 200 points or more. Alexandersson is well on course here to win the World Cup overall for the fourth consecutive year.

Six men have overcome the 200-points hurdle, the best being Daniel Hubmann, Switzerland, WOC Sprint champion, who leads Martin Regborn, Sweden by 39 points. The Swiss athlete Matthias Kyburz is third with 7 points fewer than Regborn. Hubmann has won the World Cup overall 6 times before, a very impressive record of consistency.

The next World Cup round is in Latvia where the individual races are a Middle Distance on 25th August and a Sprint on 28th August. The final round is in Switzerland at the end of September.
