The latest event application period ended the 31st March and IOF received 17 applications from 15 Federations. The IOF discipline commissions will start the formal review process and the IOF has a target to appoint event organisers at its Council meetings 14-15th June or 6th August. Decisions regarding the preliminary event dates will be taken in conjunction with the appointment.
Events applications still open
Events which have not been applied for are still open for applications. Before planning/or sending in an application, please contact the IOF Office or the discipline commission responsible for the application.
Russian Applications
Two applications received from the Russian Orienteering Federation (WOC 2022 and ESOC 2020) were not accepted due to article 20.3.11 of the World Anti-Doping Code, valid from 1 April 2018. IOF may only accept bids from countries where the National Anti-Doping Organisation is in compliance with the Code. The Russian Anti-Doping Organisation (RUSADA) has been deemed non-compliant since 18 November 2015 and event applications from Russia are therefore subject to article 20.3.11.
EOC 2020
IOF Council appointed Estonia as the organiser of EOC 2020 at its last Council meeting in Brussels (no 188).
