European Orienteering Championships: Reigning World Champions still best at long distance

Posted on | June 5, 2010 | Category: News

Daniel Hubmann got earlier this week European Championships silver in sprint and bronze on middle distance, but on long distance he was unbeatable. Hubmann, last year’s long distance World Champion, finished 3.5 minutes ahead of Philippe Adamski, France, and more than 4 minutes ahead of Fabian Hertner, European Champion in sprint.

Hubmann’s team mate, also long distance World Champion from 2009, Simone Niggli, got her second individual victory at this year’s European Championships. Dana Brozkova, Czech Republic, was one minute behind, but the bronze medal winner Helena Jansson, Sweden, was already almost six minutes slower than Niggli.
