The very experienced Finnish rider Marika Hara took victory in the re-run women’s urban sprint today by the very impressive margin of 2 minutes and 24 seconds. The silver medal went to Switzerland, their first medal of the Championships.
Hara’s very fast times to the second and third controls were decisive in the race, and she had the fastest time on 8 of the 16 legs of the course. Ursina Jäggi, current Middle distance world champion, had her best race of the week so far and took the silver medal. It was a close call though, with bronze medallist Ingrid Stengård, Finland just two seconds slower. Middle distance winner two days ago, Emily Benham, Great Britain finished fourth.
The Long distance race with mass start (1-man-relay format) is tomorrow.
