Tomorrow (Monday) is the opening day of the 2015 European MTBO Championships. The Opening Ceremony will be preceded by the first race of the Championships, a Sprint Relay.
The venue for the Championships is the county of Idanha-a-Nova, situated about 270 km NE of Lisbon in Portugal. The Middle, Long and Relay races will take place in typical Mediterranean forest made up mainly of Eucalyptus plantations, with many tracks and paths and often dense vegetation. ‘Short cuts’ between paths are often possible, however. Some urban terrain will be used for the sprint events and part of the Relay.
62 men and 40 women from 19 nations are entered. Full details can be found in Bulletin 4, downloadable from the event website www.mtboc2015.fpo.pt, and there will be live coverage on the event website including video, speaker sound and GPS tracking and a live results service.
