For a year now, success in Latvia has been the goal for Ulrik Nordberg, and even though he got a silver medal in the long distance it was first on the Sprint that he was really satisfied.
“I think I have a good chance to win. I haven’t made any mistakes. It’s been a good race”, Ulrik Nordberg said when he was interviewed by the Speaker whilst there were still competitors in the forest. It ended up with Sprint gold for Nordberg, who is from Umeå in the northern part of Sweden.
The gap was 35 seconds to Dag Lofthus from Norway in second place. That’s a lot in Sprint. Ulrik really showed impressive racing.
Ulrik made some mistakes on the middle distance, and in the long distance he finished second but had broken a stick during the race. He wanted to perform better. It has also been a big goal to do better than he did in JWSOC in Ukraine one year ago. “I was little bit sick in Ukraine, but I saw that I had the speed when I won the national championships a little bit later”.

“I am now thinking more about quality than counting hours of training”, says the Swede, who does about 500–550 hours training a year.
Ulrik’s team-mate Frida Sandberg gained her third victory this week in the Sprint. “I made some small mistakes at the beginning. I was un-used to the scale on the map”, Sandberg says. Linda Lindkvist got a second medal for Sweden with second place.|| Print page ||
