The Russians Tatyana Rvacheva and Andrei Lamov head the individual standings at the end of the first round of the World Cup. Russia is also the strongest team overall in the Nations competition.

13 athletes and 3 teams – from 13 different countries – are nominated for the annual poll to find the most impressive achievements in international orienteering.
One second was the margin for Lars Moholdt, Norway in victory over Andrey Lamov, Russia in the men’s Sprint, the final competition of the World Cup first round at Ylläs, Finland. In the women’s class it was a clean sweep in all individual distances for Russia’s Tatyana Rvacheva; her win today was by two seconds ahead of Tove Alexandersson, Sweden.

Tatyana Rvacheva, Russia tasted victory for the second time in two days when she won the replacement Middle distance race today by the impressive margin of 37 seconds. Her compatriot Andrey Lamov won the men’s race by 21 seconds.
