Test concept

K.O-SPRINTS: qualification system
QUALIFICATION, Vieste (W: 2,1km, M 2,4km, winning-time of 8-9 min’s)
  –> 30 fastest women and 30 fastes men to the semifinals
“NORT-SYSTEM” SEMIFINALS, Peschici (W: 2,1km, M: 2,4km (forking-loops & map-flip), winning-time of 8-9min’s)
Mass-starts (5 heats, 6 athletes per heat), according to the qualification-results:
– heat 1: 1st-10th-11th-20th-21st-30th
– heat 2: 2th-9th-12th-19th-22th-29th
– heat 3: 3th-8th-13th-18th-23th-28th
– heat 4: 4th-7th-14th-17th-24th-27th
– heat 5: 5th-6th-15th-16th-25th-26th
  –> winner from each heat to the final + fastest 2nd placed (lucky loser)
“NORT-SYSTEM” FINALS, Peschici (W: 2,3km, M: 2,6km (forking-loops & map-flip), winning-time of 9-10min’s)
Mass-starts for 6 athletes (6 women, 6 men)

 

“CHASE-model” SEMIFINALS, Vico del Gargano (W: 2,1km, M: 2,4km (no forking), winning-time of 8-9min’s)
Chase-starts (3 heats, 10 athletes per heat), according to the qualification-results & -times
– heat 1: 1st-4th-7th-10th-13th-16th-19th-22nd-25th-28th
– heat 2: 2nd-5th-8th-11th-14th-17th-20th-23th-26th-29th
– heat 3: 3rd-6th-9th-12th-15th-18th-21st-24th-27th-30th
  –> 2 best from each heat to the final + 2 x fastest 3th/4th placed (lucky losers) according to the Q + SF -times = 8 athletes in the FINAL
“CHASE-model” FINALS, Vico del Gargano (W: 2,2km, M: 2,5km (no forking), winning-time of 9-10min’s)
Chase-starts for 8 athletes (8 women, 8 men)
Starting-order and time-differences: 1. fastest* SF-winner at 0″, 2. 2nd fastest winner +5″, 3. 3rd fastest winner +10″, 4. fastest 2nd placed +15″,
5. 2nd fastest 2nd placed +18″,  6. 3rd fastest 2nd placed +21″, 7. fastest lucky loser +24″, 8. 2nd fastest lucky loser +27″
