20/09/2011 || MTBO European Championships & World Cup: four middle distance medals for Finland ||News||

Finland’s women took all three medals in the middle distance race in the Leningrad region of Russia today, Ingrid Stengård taking the gold with a 12 second lead. Erik Skovgaard Knudsen, Denmark, appears unbeatable at present as he took his second gold medal of the week with victory by almost half a minute.

Erik Skovgaard Knudsen, Denmark, the current leader in the men’s World Cup standings by a large margin, extended his lead and was crowned European Sprint Champion today with victory by 9 seconds. Marika Hara, Finland, previously joint leader in the women’s standings, is European Champion with a win also by 9 seconds.

18/09/2011 || Keen contests in prospect in MTBO World Cup finals ||News||

There are some keen contests in prospect in the final round of the 2011 MTBO World Cup, which takes place this week in the Leningrad region of Russia. Michaela Gigon, Austria and Marika Hara, Finland are tied in first place going in to the final three individual races, and the lead in the relay competition is shared by Finland and Switzerland.

14/09/2011 || The World Games qualification rules published ||News||

The next edition of The World Games will be held in August 2013 in Cali, Colombia. The International World Games Association (IWGA) has agreed to include three orienteering events in the programme: two individual events for men and women, a sprint race and a middle distance race, as well as a mixed team relay. The IWGA has allocated spaces for a total of 40 male and 40 female runners to the IOF.
