13 countries in South American Orienteering Championships

475 athletes from 13 countries took part in the first South American Orienteering Championships and the South American Open Championships in Chile. The race brought together the best South American orienteers in three days of competition, which took place in the urban sector of Valparaiso and in the National Reservation Lago Peñuelas, Protected Wilderness Area administered by CONAF.

Competitors from Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Finland made this event the biggest ever organized by the Chilean Orienteering Federation.

The winners in the long distance were the Brazilians Leandro Pasturiza (M21E) and Leticia da Silva (W21E), while in the middle distance Sidnaldo Farias (M21E) and Franciely Siqueira (W21E) were the winners. InsSprint Franciely repeated her first place (W21E) together with Carlos Henrique Souza (M21E). All of them from Brazil.
